Behind the scenes of the Iowa Wild · 2026–27 Season
The longest short drive in hockey.
It's 245 miles from Casey's Center in Des Moines to Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. For an Iowa Wild player, that one stretch of I-35 is everything.
The call-up
The phone rings and the dream gets real: a shot with the Minnesota Wild in the NHL. Pack a bag, head north on I-35, and get ready to prove you belong at the highest level.
Sent down
The drive from the Twin Cities to Des Moines is a trip tourists love. But it's not the trip a pro hockey player hopes to make... Back to the AHL to grind, prove it again, and earn the next chance.
Same road, two very different trips. Depending on which way you're headed, those 245 miles can be the best day of a career or one of the hardest.
A season-long documentary, on and off the ice.
245 Miles is a six-part documentary series that takes fans inside the Iowa Wild for the 2026–27 season. Each 15 to 25 minute episode goes where cameras usually can't: the locker room, the bus rides, the front office, the stands with the fans, and the homes of the players chasing their shot at the NHL.
And it's about more than hockey. It's about the fans who pack Casey's Center, the community that rallies around its team, and everyone who makes game night happen.

Built like the shows you already love.
If you've watched Netflix's Quarterback or HBO's Hard Knocks, you know the feeling. You're not watching highlights. You're living inside a team, seeing the pressure, the humor, and the moments that never make the broadcast.
That's the standard for 245 Miles. Same approach to shooting, editing, and storytelling, built for the Iowa Wild and the fans who follow them.
Cinematic from the first frame
Cinema cameras, interviews with coaches, players, and staff, and a documentary crew that knows how to work around a hockey team.
Character-driven storytelling
Every episode follows real people with real lives, trying to accomplish their dreams.
Real access, real moments
Locker rooms, bus rides, and living rooms. The stuff fans never get to see.
Tight, story-first editing
Fast enough for social, deep enough to keep people watching to the last minute.
Quarterback and Hard Knocks are referenced to describe production style only. 245 Miles is not affiliated with Netflix or HBO.
